Less investment in Ibiza
Friday, 06 November 2009 21:51

Amongst a certain amount of criticism the spending budget for 2010 was announced by the Balearic Government last week, and revealed Ibiza is set to receive a total of €171 million.

The most notable highlight remained the fact Menorca is set to receive €17 million more than Ibiza, despite the island having 30,000 less people living on it.

Of the total amount, the Island Council will receive €27 million, whilst the various Town Halls will get just over €50 million between them. A further €19 million will be dedicated to public entities within the Govern like the Port Authority, Ibavi and Ibisec. However, the biggest proportion of the money, €73,574,816, will be set aside for Ib-Salut, the local health authority.

Formentera will receive a total of €24,057,670 with the biggest part (€10,069,858) handed to the Island Council.

Meanwhile, the Govern's investments over the next twelve months will also be dramatically reduced, with Ibiza receiving just €23,929,056 of this, 37.3 per cent less than in 2009.
